What happens to a worn-out photo
The picture on this page is our own demo photo of a yellow Labrador, shrunk, blurred, grained and faded on purpose. The portrait next to it was made from that worn copy, not from the sharp original. The portrait is painted fresh from your photo, so the grain and blur do not carry over.
Photos that work
- Old prints you scanned or photographed with your phone
- Small, cropped or zoomed-in phone pictures
- Faded, grainy or slightly out-of-focus shots
- A pet who has passed, where the one good photo is an old one
What to look for in the photo
You need to see the face: both eyes, the nose and the markings. If the face is clear enough for you to know it is them, it is clear enough to try. Heavy blur over the eyes, or a pet far away in the frame, gives weaker results. Upload it anyway: it costs nothing to see.

Questions
Can you make a portrait from a blurry pet photo?
Yes. Upload it and see four portraits of your pet free before you pay. The face needs to be visible: both eyes and the nose.
Can I use an old scanned photo?
Yes. A scan or a phone picture of a print works. Faded color and film grain do not carry into the portrait.
Is it free to try?
Yes. You see four portraits free and need no card. You pay only if you order one on canvas.
How much is a canvas?
A 16×16 in canvas is $45.99, three 12×12 in canvases are $67.99 and 24×24 in is $82.99, with free US shipping.
